How much does it cost to rent a bike in Zandvoort?
At Behind the Beach, the rental price depends on the type of bike, the rental period, and the location. A standard city bike is the most affordable option. An e-bike or cargo bike has a higher rate. Check the current rates on our website or ask at the front desk.
The exact price depends on:
- Type of bicycle (city bike, e-bike, fat bike, cargo bike, monster bike or go-kart)
- Rental period (hour, day, 24 hours, from four days)
- Location (Zandvoort aan Zee or Bloemendaal aan Zee)
- Any extras such as a child seat
Good to know: for rentals of four days or more, the daily price is lower. Handy if you are at the coast for a week.

Differences by type of bicycle
City bike with gears. The standard, most affordable. Suitable for the village, the beach, or a quiet route through the dunes. Available in Zandvoort and Bloemendaal aan Zee.
Baker's bike and picnic bike. With a basket on the front for your picnic or a day at the beach. Slightly higher in rate than a city bike. Only in Zandvoort.
Electric bike. Slightly more expensive than a city bike, but great if you want to cycle further or if the wind is against you along the coast. Available at both locations. View our e-bikes.
Fatbike (20 inch, electric). Wide tires, comfortable over sand. Popular for beach and dune routes. Only in Zandvoort. View our fatbikes.
Monster fatbike (28 inch, electric). XXL fatbike, striking and powerful. Only in Zandvoort.
Electric cargo bike. For families with multiple children or luggage. Higher price segment, but all-in-one. Available at both locations. Renting a cargo bike is practical for a family day out.
Children's bike 20 or 24 inch. The cheapest bike option. Available at both locations.
Go-kart. For the very little ones or older children, also available as a two-seater. Only in Bloemendaal aan Zee.

When do you pay more?
A few moments when the rent turns out to be more expensive.
High season (June through August). Busy months, demand is high, prices may rise slightly.
Specialized bicycles. A fat bike, monster bike, or cargo bike is by definition more expensive than a city bike, because the bike itself is more expensive and requires more maintenance.
Short time. A few hours or half a day can end up being more expensive than a full day, because we often apply a minimum rate.
Tips to save costs
- Book online in advance. You know for sure that your bike is ready and the price beforehand.
- Choose a whole day instead of a few hours. It works out lower per hour.
- Rent for four consecutive days or more. The daily rate drops then.
- Come during the low season (April, May, September, October) for the best price and the fewest crowds.

How do you book a bike at Behind the Beach?
With us, it works in two ways.
Online in advance. Via our website, you choose your bike type, date, period, and location. Reserving is easy, and you know the price beforehand. This is especially convenient during peak season, as your bike will be ready.
Walk-in. Visit one of our locations:
Zandvoort aan Zee: Haltestraat 51, within walking distance of Zandvoort station.
Bloemendaal aan Zee: on the boulevard, close to the beach.
During peak season, stock at the walk-in can run out quickly. Reserving in advance is therefore safer.
